Independent Power Producer

Utility-scale solar, developed to a bankable standard.

We take grid-connected solar from land and feasibility to financial close, commercial operation and 20 years of O&M — structured the way BPDB, PGCB and lenders expect to see it.

The engagement

One accountable sponsor from site selection to year twenty.

Bangladesh needs roughly 25 GW of new capacity by 2041. We bring land, capital and delivery discipline so the offtaker contracts energy, not project risk.

PPA structure

How the contracts, capital and electrons move.

A ring-fenced project SPV holds every contract. Lenders see one borrower, the offtaker sees one seller, and risk sits with the party best placed to manage it.

Development lifecycle

Thirty months from feasibility to first dispatch.

Six gated stages. Nothing moves to the next gate without a signed deliverable — which is what lenders' technical advisers audit.

  1. 01

    Step 01 · Months 0–6

    Feasibility

Irradiance and yield modelling, grid impact study with PGCB, pre-feasibility and letter of intent.

  2. 02

    Step 02 · Months 3–12

    Land

Non-agricultural or char land aggregated, title diligence, DoE site clearance and community consultation.

  3. 03

Piling, mounting, modules, inverter stations, 132 kV substation bay and transmission line.

  5. 05

    Step 05 · Month ~30

    COD

Witnessed performance tests with BPDB and PGCB, then commercial operation declared.

  6. 06

    Step 06 · Years 1–20

    O&M

Availability guarantees, module cleaning, SCADA to the load-dispatch centre, lender reporting.

FAQ

Questions from utilities and investors

Structuring, land, tariffs and who carries the risk.

Ask an engineer

Both. We respond to competitive solicitations issued by BPDB and the Power Division, and we bring unsolicited proposals where we have secured land and a viable grid connection. Either route ends in the same PPA and implementation agreement structure.

We prioritise char land, fallow and non-agricultural parcels, and we combine long-term leases with outright purchase. Every site goes through title diligence, DoE clearance and community consultation before we commit development capital. At roughly 3.5 acres per MWp, land strategy is decided at feasibility, not after.

Utility solar in Bangladesh is typically an energy-only tariff in US cents per kWh, paid in taka, with no capacity payment. We model tariffs against lender cover ratios and propose deemed-energy protection for grid curtailment.

Yes. Each project sits in its own SPV, so co-investors can take a minority or joint stake in a specific plant rather than the whole portfolio. Use the investor enquiry form for our current pipeline pack.

Emerged Power operates every plant it sponsors, with availability guarantees backed in the O&M contract, 24/7 SCADA monitoring and monthly reporting to the offtaker and lenders.
